ENVIE: LOUISIANA CUISINE

Branding | Restaurant

Academic Project

For an academic project, I created a fine dining restaurant called "Envie" in Vancouver, BC. Envie specializes in cajun and creole cooking that is inspired by Louisiana cuisine. "Envie" translates to "having a craving for" and is commonly used in the state of Louisiana.

The first task was to create a new branding package for the restaurant, including a new logo, typography, and color palette. I chose a color scheme of gold, dark green, and off-white to reflect the vibrant and rich colors of Louisiana without using purple, commonly associated with Mardi Gras. The typography was selected to convey a sense of elegance and sophistication, while also being legible and easy to read.

The next step was to design the menu for both digital and print formats. For the print menu, I chose a tri-fold design, while the digital menu was created as a continuous scroll to cater to customers using iPhones and iPads. I paired the menu with a wine list to complement the flavors of the cuisine. The menu items were chosen to showcase traditional cooking from the Louisiana Bayou.

Finally, I created custom designs for the restaurant, including wine glasses and two store signs. These designs incorporated the same color scheme and typography used in the branding package, creating a cohesive and recognizable brand identity for the restaurant.

Overall, this project allowed me to showcase my skills in branding, graphic design, and menu layout, while also creating a unique and compelling identity for a fine dining restaurant in Vancouver. The final products effectively communicated the restaurant's Louisiana-inspired cuisine and the elegance and sophistication of the dining experience.
